Explore the pristine beaches, where turquoise waters and white sands create a picturesque setting for relaxation. Engage in various water activities, such as snorkeling or diving, to discover the vibrant underwater world.
Dive into the island's history and culture with visits to iconic landmarks like the Old Fort and the Palace Museum. Indulge in the local cuisine, influenced by a fusion of African, Arab, and Indian flavors. With five days at your disposal, you'll have plenty of time to unwind, explore, and embrace the magic of Zanzibar.
You will start your safari by a 1 hour morning flight from either the Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport to Spice Island (Zanzibar). On arrival at the Aman Abeid Karume international Airport you will meet our driver for the transfer to your accommodation place in Stone Town. After being allocated to your rooms you can rest and have lunch at your leisure.
Afternoon private guided Stone Town Walking Tour. Stone Town is rich with the history, culture and architecture of the diverse peoples that have called the island home. A walking tour is the only way to truly experience this ancient city, which exists today much as it did when Zanzibar was a great trading center known the world over for spices, ivory, and slaves.
The two and a half hour tour takes you through the streets and back alleys to Stone Town’s famous and infamous spots, including the location of the slave market, Sultans’ palaces, Beit el Ajaib (House of Wonders), the old Arab Fort, artists’ studios, and museums. Feel the rhythm of life in the main marketplace, alive with the chatter of locals bargaining in Swahili and the vibrant palette of colors from the fabrics, tropical fruits, spices, and intricately carved wooden handicrafts.
Meals: Lunch and Dinner
After breakfast we will start heading up north of the Island to Mnemba. From 8:30hrs we will take a boat and go for Dolphin tour. When we find the Dolphins, you can decide to jump and swim with them or just stay in the boat and watch them do the belly flops but, the more fun is when you get closer enough to touch and swim with them.
At 11:15hrs we arrive at the Oval reef measuring several miles in diameter. The boat will drop us off at the area near the Island which is famous for its sea bed. The depth of the water is the same in all the reef area (6-16ft/2-4m). You will find yourself above a reef of varying quality (some areas are wonderfully preserved, while others seem damaged by the area's high visitors’ number). Fishing is prohibited here therefore the density of marine life here is higher than many other places in Zanzibar. You will come across shoals of dozens of Moorish idols, snappers, clownfish in their anemones and a host of other species. On the sea bed, look out for blue starfish, red-knobbed starfish or the fearsome crown-of-thorns starfish, a poisonous, coral-eating species.
Green turtles can occasionally be seen at this spot, since they go to the island's beaches to lay their eggs at certain times of year. At 13:00hrs is lunch served by the beach. You should consider bringing a piece of clothing to put by the under-neath to which you can sit on and eat as you enjoy the view of the ocean and beach itself at Mnemba. From 14:00hrs is relaxing and playing beach games at the Island of Mnemba. If you want to go for more snorkeling as well it is Okay. At 17:00hrs we start heading back to your hotel.
Meals: Break-fast and Dinner
After breakfast, take a private island Spice Tour. Visit a spice plantation where you will have the opportunity to pick, smell and savor some of the world’s most exotic fruit & spices – many of which you have never seen on the supermarket shelf. Cloves, star fruit, ‘bulls’ heart’, tangerine trees, lemon grass, mangos and lip-stick trees. Perhaps you will fancy buying a basket of freshly picked spices to take home with you.
After the tour, your driver will drop you off to your hotel.
Meals: Break-fast and Dinner
A mere 4 kilometers and 20 minutes boat ride from the bustle of Stone Town lies quiet Changuu (Prison) Island, which received its name from the prison that was built in 1893 under Zanzibar’s British administration. The buildings were never used as a prison and instead became a quarantine center. The ruins are still intact and the cells can be visited. A protected colony of giant tortoises – some over 100 years old – live on the island. A number of rare bird species may also be seen on the island. The beach is superb and the crystal clear sea excellent for swimming, snorkeling, fishing, or diving.
You will snorkel, swim, enjoying the beautiful scenery of white sand beaches and exploring the giant tortoises. At 4 pm you will leave and go back to your hotel.
